Procedure for resetting recycled Canon cartridges
If after inserting a cartridge of one of these models in your printer, it still refuses to let you print and displays an error code of the type "E4" or "E5", it is necessary to proceed to resetting recycled Canon cartridges using a simple method on your printer. First make sure that the black cartridge and the color cartridge are both properly installed in your machine and that the front cover is securely closed. Then, weigh and hold down the STOP / RESET button (it can also be called “Reset”, in all cases the button is represented by an upside down triangle inside a circle) for a period of time. ten seconds. When you hear your printer's mechanism start to work, release the button and wait. Once the Canon Recycled Cartridge reset cycle is complete, the printer will no longer display an error message and you can continue printing
Note that this process does not reset the level of ink displayed on the screen. This level does not reset. The cartridges are manufactured by Canon so that the level of ink displayed on the screen does not rise when the cartridge is remanufactured. Subsequently, recycled cartridges can be used in the printer, but they will still appear empty on the screen. This doesn't stop you from printing, but you won't know how much ink is left in your cartridges.
Also note that the level of ink displayed on the screen is very imprecise, more often than not. This is more of a counter of printed pages than an actual level of ink remaining in the cartridge. That is, this counter drops by the same amount on each page printed and does not consider the actual amount of ink used.
